Ministries

Our Ministries include:

Radio Ministry - The "Thanks to Calvary" broadcast is on the air every Sunday night at 9 p.m on Freedom 92.9 F.M.  It began on June 1st  2008. We invite you to tune in and glean from the teaching of the Word of God. 
 
Bus ministry - We have a 55 passenger bus that the Lord has graciously provided for us to use here in Olney to bring children and adults to our church to hear the preaching and teaching of the Word of God that could not come otherwise.

Sonshine ministry - We have chapel services for the elderly in Burgin Manor every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and then we rotate each week between Richland Care and Rehab at 10:45 a.m.  and Emerald Glen at 11:00 a.m. We are pleased to announce a new ministry opportunity on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. every other week at Brookstone Estates!

Andrew Fellowship - This is our weekly soulwinning training class that goes out each week to invite people to come to Christ, and come to Calvary Baptist Church!

Naomi Fellowship - This ministry is for the widows that the Lord has brought to us to encourage and to comfort. We seek to do this through occassional meetings, and Bible studies.

Prison ministry - We were involved in the ground floor of the new Illinois state prison facility in Lawrence county where 2300 men are incarcerated. Our ministry was one of the very first ministries in to minister to the men there. We have seen many men come to know Christ as Savior from this ministry! Our chapel services are at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings.

Children's ministry - We have a junior church for children under the age of 12 in our Sunday morning service. We have puppet shows and enthusiastic Bible lessons! Prizes are awarded to children that work hard to memorize Bible verses! On Wednesday night we have Calvary's Kids for ages 5 to 10 years of age. This is similiar to the Awana program in other churches.

Youth ministry - We are excited about working with teens and encouraging them to give the rest of their lives to the Lord! We minister to our youth with occasional get-togethers to encourage them in their walk with the Lord. This summer we have plans to attend the Youth Conference in Louisville, Kentucky!

Nursery Ministry - This ministry is a vital part of our church. It allows parents to be able to sit in the services without the distractions that young ones cause, and clearly hear the gospel and be saved.

Media Ministry - We are so excited about sharing the Word of God with others in our community through this ministry. We use DVD, VHS, and Cassette tapes to evangelize those who know not God, and to edify those who do. The Calvary Bible College ministry. It is a three year Bible college that meets for three hours once a week. Anyone who lives within driving distance can be a part of this great opportunity. See the Calvary Bible College page for more information or call the church office.
